Rajant Enabling Connectivity at Events and Venues of Every Size

When attending busy theme parks or large outdoor events, such as sporting events or music festivals, attendees and staff expect to be able to use their phones and internet devices without much trouble; at least, that’s the hope. Reliable communication and connectivity are crucial for visitor safety, crowd control, and customer enjoyment amid the fun atmosphere and heart-pounding entertainment. A breakdown in connectivity at these expansive events can mean the difference between a fun, relaxing time and a chaotic one. This is where Rajant Kinetic Mesh® networks provide the ideal solution to keep the good times rolling. They are the unsung heroes that allow event planners to coordinate indoor and outdoor events that are memorable and safe for all participants.

From music festivals to state fairs, theme parks to professional sporting events, venues must be outfitted with feature-rich, controllable, high-capacity communications infrastructure to accommodate big crowds with various devices and the administrative demands of personnel and organizers.

Our Kinetic Mesh networks support demanding and high-density areas. In contrast to conventional Wi-Fi networks, which depend on cumbersome stationary infrastructure, Rajant Kinetic Mesh comprises adaptable and self-healing mobile BreadCrumbs® that autonomously establish connections. This makes them ideal for adapting to an event’s changing landscape and keeping all devices connected even in hard-to-reach locations.

Enhancing Control, Safety, and Security

The redundant links formed by Rajant BreadCrumbs follow Rajant’s InstaMesh® networking protocol to orchestrate traffic, selecting the fastest path for data delivery. When event organizers need to respond to emergencies or precarious situations, communication must remain reliable and quick to deliver data. If one route for data transmission becomes blocked or interrupted, the InstaMesh network autonomously finds the next best path and seamlessly transitions to it. This ensures a level of resiliency other connectivity solutions cannot provide.

Each BreadCrumb can hold multiple connections simultaneously, creating high capacity to easily support innumerable, bandwidth-intensive applications. Theme park administrators can access real-time data from machines and live camera feeds to enable equipment health monitoring, predictive maintenance, and situational awareness. Large outdoor events can enable CCTV and camera-equipped drones to stream live video feeds for situational awareness and real-time event coverage.

Using Kinetic Mesh, emergencies and security incidents can be quickly identified and responded to. Additionally, personnel deployed to handle these situations can maintain communications with central command and each other as they move throughout the venue. Kinetic Mesh is also unlike other open access points in terms of security because it provides Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), allowing you to control access keys and different network authorization levels.

Seamless Communication for Enhanced User Experience

Rajant Kinetic Mesh enables live streaming video for judging, enhanced spectating, and remote viewing. Additionally, real-time metrics and updates can be disseminated to devices via an app or website. Because the BreadCrumb nodes work peer-to-peer and can hold multiple connections simultaneously, Kinetic Mesh has the high capacity to support bandwidth-intensive video streaming with reliable performance. Dynamic visuals and real-time updates can be shared with numerous audiences, from event attendees to home viewers, without lag in the video stream speed or quality.

Whether it be live video feeds from aerial drones, player-mounted cameras, or non-reachable parts of the venue, our Kinetic Mesh network will ensure that video is transmissible and of high quality. Furthermore, suppose attendees need to connect with friends or family inside the venue or back home (who hasn’t been separated from their group at a concert). In that case, Kinetic Mesh can provide them with reliable connectivity while fully supporting the event’s operational demands.

Rajant EquineView™: A Game-Changer for Equestrian Events

Kinetic Mesh networks allow for an exciting capability: the power to see exactly what our favorite players and performers are seeing and feeling. EquineView, for example, provides a robust and fully mobile wireless networking solution to enable the live streaming and archiving of video, vitals, and locations of horses in competition, at rest, and work in diverse disciplines.

EquineView enables horse owners, riders, trainers, and equestrian event managers to take advantage of new technologies like smart sensors and IP-based television broadcasting. It gives you real-time, up-close views of horse health and performance, whether covering fast-paced equestrian events, streaming video from the horse’s eye perspective, tracking their whereabouts as they graze, or monitoring their fitness as they work.

Using a small camera with pan, tilt, and roll stabilization mounted to the horse’s bridle, EquineView allows for high-definition video from the horse’s perspective, which can be streamed for live events and/or archived for later review and training purposes.

Rajant BreadCrumbs in Action: The Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open

Our BreadCrumbs and Kinetic Mesh technology were proudly showcased at the Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open, a major slopestyle competition in the U.S. Traditionally, the event faced challenges due to the lack of network infrastructure at the hosting resort, making wireless communications and live streaming nearly impossible. In 2020, Rajant’s technology, in partnership with Think Vertical Now!, was deployed to establish a robust wireless network capable of supporting high-definition video streaming to remote judging panels. This innovative setup enabled live-streaming of the event, overcoming numerous environmental and logistical challenges, such as rugged terrain, inclement weather, and radio frequency interference from the nearby airport.

Implementing a Kinetic Mesh network allowed uninterrupted connectivity, ensuring optimal performance and reliable video transmission. This proof of concept successfully demonstrated the potential for using advanced wireless networks to enhance digital capabilities at sporting events, potentially increasing visibility, sponsorship opportunities, and revenue for future events at Aspen Snowmass. The success of this deployment opens the door for future applications of Rajant’s technology at various events, including the X Games, outdoor concerts, and other sports functions held in challenging environments.

The Future of Public Events with Rajant Kinetic Mesh

As public events grow in size and complexity, the need for robust and reliable wireless networking solutions will only increase. Rajant Corporation is leading the charge, making the complicated simple and ensuring everyone, from event organizers to attendees, can stay connected and safe in any environment.

The flexibility and scalability of Kinetic Mesh networks mean that they can be tailored to the specific needs of any event, ensuring that all participants, broadcasters, and fans have a safe and enjoyable “continuously connected” experience.
