Rajant Health Incorporated Secures Patent for FASTQ/FASTA Compression Technology, Advancing Genomic Data Processing

Malvern, PA – February 5, 2025 – Rajant Health Incorporated (RHI), a leader in AI-driven healthcare solutions, Edge Computing, and no-code solutions for omics analysis, has been awarded a patent for its FASTQ/FASTA Compression Systems and Methods. A breakthrough innovation that improves the efficiency of genomic data storage, transmission, and analysis. This patent addresses the growing challenges in next-generation sequencing (NGS) by introducing a high-performance, lossless compression system designed to handle the massive datasets generated in precision medicine, biomedical research, and clinical diagnostics.

As genomic sequencing continues to expand in applications ranging from personalized healthcare to infectious disease monitoring, the increasing volume of FASTQ and FASTA files presents significant storage and computational challenges. Current compression methods, both general-purpose and domain-specific, suffer from inefficiencies such as low compression rates, high computational costs, or data loss. Rajant Health’s new patented approach optimizes quality scores, sequence k-mers, and identifiers, significantly reducing storage needs and improving data transmission speeds while maintaining data integrity.

Rajant Health Incorporated CEO, Robert Schena, shares “This patent is a great accomplishment for Rajant Health and reflects the brilliance and drive our team has for solving the critical challenges facing genomic data management. Their innovative approach just reinforces Rajant Health’s commitment to advancing healthcare technology and providing more efficient, intelligent solutions for the industry.”

Erik Herrmann, VP of Product Management at RHI adds “This compression algorithm continues to demonstrate Trovomics’ commitment to be at the leading edge of omics analysis. We are now well positioned to manage the increasing volume of applications of NGS to discovering new insights for precision medicine.”

The patented system streamlines genomic data processing by removing duplicate and semi-duplicate reads, applying adaptive compression techniques, and structuring data into a highly efficient binary format. These enhancements allow for faster data transfer, reduced storage costs, and improved accessibility for AI-powered genomic analysis and real-time diagnostics, helping researchers and clinicians accelerate discoveries, improve patient outcomes, and advance large-scale omics data analysis.
