Rajant’s Commitment to Excellence - Rajant Corporation

Rajant’s Commitment to Excellence

This month in our Morehead, Kentucky facility, Rajant was recertified for the fifth consecutive year for ISO 9001:2015. To earn this certification, which is issued by the International Organization for Standardization, businesses are required to have the following standards in place for their quality management system:

  • A demonstrated ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • A mission to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

In short, organizations that earn this certification have demonstrated a commitment to going above and beyond to ensure their products and offerings stack up against or exceed industry standards.

Achieving these and other high standards is a top priority for Rajant, as we’re committed to providing the best possible products and services to our worldwide customers.

How Rajant Enhances User Experiences and Strengthens Networks

In our commitment to excellence, we’re always looking to develop software and firmware that provides our partners with reliable, cutting-edge technology. Like Rajant’s Morehead operations, we have dedicated and rigorous testing in our Malvern, Pennsylvania headquarters. Our engineering and manufacturing teams are constantly developing new ways to improve test methods to keep up with all the latest market-ready features, such as the requirement for industrial Wi-Fi for process automation. The work conducted helps Rajant consistently deliver quality products and services.

“Testing in the lab gives us the ability to create a repeatable and controlled test environment. Everything gets fully tested from a functionality standpoint, from a performance standpoint, and from a connectivity standpoint. We want to make sure that there aren’t any regressions in functionality and any new development work, whether it’s a bug fix or a new feature, and has not changed any of the other behaviors in the firmware.” – Jeff McOrmond

An example of how our team uses the testing facility to guarantee quality products lies within our BreadCrumb® wireless network nodes. Our test environment enables our team to generate a baseline for performance and measure that performance over time to make sure no degradation happens.

“There are so many things that go on in a BreadCrumb, in the firmware, that when one change happens, there are other things affected by it—and you don’t always know that right away. We can compare over time—has our performance of InstaMesh® gone up or down? Has memory usage gone up or down? We can do an upgrade-downgrade test between ten different versions and run it overnight, or we can test every possible combination of our cryptographic settings and see the performance comparisons between all of those and then have that data across months to compare against.” – Jason Smith

The testing center also enables our team to test variations of radio frequency (RF) environments within our partners’ unique working areas. In turn, this helps us better understand the specific needs of each of our partners—tailoring our solutions to be customized to the critical needs global partners are fulfilling at the customer level in an array of industrial environments.

“Every customer has a different RF environment, and by taking a snapshot of the entire BreadCrumb network at a customer site, it gives us the ability to analyze the RF environment and what the network characteristics were at the time that it was taken. The RF matrix that we have allows us to simulate the RF environment at a customer site. We can also introduce wifi, non-wifi, in-band, and out-of-band interference sources. The matrix also gives us the ability to simulate movement, distance, and even roaming.” – Greg Yerkes

Ultimately, the goal behind our testing is simple: to release a quality product that works.

Rajant’s Commitment to Meeting (and Exceeding) Global Standards

Not only do we invest in our products and services, but we also invest in our people.

For two years in a row, Rajant has received Lean Six Sigma certification for nine of its Morehead-based employees—a testament to our culture of continuous improvement in engineering and manufacturing.

This certification helps us eliminate waste and optimize efficiency in Rajant’s Morehead, Kentucky business facets while maximizing the value to partners of its products with the lowest possible investment.

We’ll continue to invest in our people, products, services—and of course, partners—to stand firm in our commitment to providing reliable, best-in-class technology.
